What is the difference between transit 260 and 280

Perhaps the main competitors for the Transit in terms of availability and price are the Vauxhall Vivaro and Renault Trafic. Both rival the shorter wheelbase version of the Transit and have some good discounts. For the larger transits, the Volkswagen Transporter and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter are the strongest competition. These both have all-wheel drive options, which makes them a solid choice for those doing business in places that suffer from poor weather conditions.

What to look for when buying a used Transit van What you need to be aware of when buying a second hand Transit van New Ford Transits sell like hotcakes, which is great news for those looking for a used Transit as it means they come into the market often.

Potential issues TDCi Transit models from the earlier s may have issues caused by fuel contamination. Other things to look out for There are other, straightforward things to check as you are inspecting and test driving a used Ford Transit van. Take time to: Inspect tyres for splits, bulges or uneven wear on the treads. This could indicate the wheels are misaligned. Check the load area. Ensure basics such as the door handles and radio work.

In addition, there should not be any rust around wheel arches, door sliders and sills. Get a feel for the brakes to rule out any squeaking or grinding noises. With Adaptive Cruise Control technology, you choose the speed you want to drive, and the system will maintain it. It will slow your vehicle to maintain a pre-set distance. Once the road in front is clear, the system will accelerate to your chosen speed. Forward Alert is a technology that comes as part of Adaptive Cruise Control -designed to warn you if you accidentally get too close to the vehicle in front.

Cross Traffic Alert can detect oncoming vehicles and sound a warning when you're reversing out of a space and have limited visibility of the traffic situation. The technology illuminates a light in the wing mirror too left or right depending on the direction of oncoming traffic and displays a warning on the multi-functional display.

Whether the signs are at the side of the road or above it, permanent or temporary, Traffic Sign Recognition can identify them. An icon of that speed or a no-overtaking sign appears on the instrument cluster.

It changes every time you enter a limit. Highly energy efficient, these advanced daytime running lights provide a signature look that sets Transit Custom apart. They'll help get you noticed during the day and seen clearly at night. Automatic headlights use a sensor that detects failing light at dusk or when there's a sudden change in light conditions. The lack of light triggers the automatic headlights to turn themselves on, aiding the driver in darker conditions.

In addition, Auto High Beam temporarily dips your headlights when it detects oncoming traffic or a vehicle ahead, stopping you from dazzling other drivers. It then automatically reverts to a high beam, giving you maximum visibility. Hill Start Assist temporarily stops you from rolling backwards or forwards when making a hill start. The system works by maintaining pressure to the braking system for an extra seconds, giving you more time and control as you move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator.

It's also useful when you're stopping and starting on slippery surfaces. Front and rear parking distance sensors help you judge the distance between your vehicle and obstacles in front or behind you.

When the sensors detect an object, they activate a visual and audible warning that intensifies the closer you get to it. The rear-view camera shows whatever's behind you on a screen built into the centre console, including Bollards, bicycles and low walls. As well as revealing objects you might miss, the system displays virtual lines to help you park into the smallest of spaces.

The rear-view camera activates by itself when you select reverse gear. Suppose you're accidentally drifting out of the lane. The Lane-Keeping Alert will detect that you are and alert you by vibrating the steering wheel and displaying a visual warning. It helps the driver stay in the lane in strong, gusty conditions by using the Electronic Stability Control system to sense when the vehicle is affected by crosswinds. Driver Alert System constantly monitors your driving behaviour. Ford designed this system to detect any fatigue-related changes to your driving.

If the system identifies you're becoming less vigilant, a warning icon appears in the display, suggesting you take a break.

Think I just need a SWB, normal or semi high roof, 80 0. And is there a good reason other than to carry heavier stuff to go for a SWB or over an 80 for general use? Thanks, Virgil JimNotJon posts months. I drive a new shape SWB normal roof 85ps or , can't remember. The 85 is a slug and really struggles. We have a PS medium roof and it is worlds apart. I think all the heavy duty Transits are RWD so the suspension set up is likely to be much different, they all seem to have much chunkier tyres also.

I use mine to lug about all my tools, materials and have had an AGA in the back of it. It never seems to struggles, its a slug regardless of how much weight is in there! What sort of work will you be doing out of it?
